Hello and welcome! I’m Christos, a passionate Computational Scientist with a strong background in Scientific Software Development, High-Performance Computing and Theoretical and Computational Physics. In a typical day I research, develop and program sophisticated methodologies with direct applications in Medical Imaging. I apply my extensive experience in GPU and High-Performance computing, gained from many years of academic research, to ensure that the methods I implement run efficiently on state-of-the-art Radiotherapy medical devices for the treatment of various types of cancer.

When I’m not coding, I enjoy singing and playing the guitar and piano. Some of my interests are reading, cooking, digital photography, traveling and aviation. Scroll down to learn more about me and my work!

Visualising the Universe

Outreach Visualisation

Video created and published for the Visualisation Lab of The Cyprus Institute. This video shows how particles merge into halos from various perspectives, including a short navigation into the particle cloud. For more information click here.

Particles Acceleration

Outreach Visualisation

Visualisation of the Acceleration of the particles, using the data of the Dark Sky Simulations. This picture was created using the Paraview Visualisation software. Areas in red demonstrate high values of the acceleration. We note that, as the particles form clusters, the acceleration drops due to the smaller rate of change of the gravitational potential. For more information click here.

Particles Gravitational Potential

Outreach Visualisation

Visualisation of the Gravitational Potential of the particles, using the data of the Dark Sky Simulations. This picture was created using the Paraview Visualisation software. Brighter areas show stronger gravitational potential. We note that as the particles cluster and move closer to each other, the gravitational attraction between them becomes larger. For more information click here.

Particles Velocity

Outreach Visualisation

Visualisation of the Velocity of the particles, using the data of the Dark Sky Simulations. This picture was created using the Paraview Visualisation software. Blue areas show high velocities, while yellow indicates smaller values. We note here that at early times there are high values of the velocities, while as the particles form halos the velocity drops significantly in the areas of smaller or no presence of halos. For more information click here.

My Interests

When I’m not in front of my computer screen doing Physics and Programming, I find myself reading, or singing and recording songs with my guitar. I also enjoy taking pictures with my digital camera. Check out some of my pictures in my flickr and instagram accounts! I admittedly love travelling, and always like to express my fascination in the aviation industry and my endless love for aircraft. I can’t resist to mediterranean cuisine, a fresh cup of coffee and a hot cup of tea.
